Marquise Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Rings

A marquise diamond often looks larger than a round diamond of the same carat weight. Its long shape spreads more of the diamond across the finger. Start by comparing marquise diamonds with ratios from 1.60 to 2.20. A ratio near 1.60 creates a wider shape. A ratio near 2.20 looks longer and slimmer. A ratio close to 2.00 gives the diamond a classic, balanced outline. Source: GIA Gems & Gemology.

A faint bow tie is normal in a marquise diamond. It forms a soft shadow across the center. A dark or wide bow tie dulls the diamond's sparkle. View the stone in regular light and turn it from side to side. Source: GIA Bow Tie Research.

A solitaire puts the center diamond first. A halo adds sparkle and makes the stone look larger. Three stone, floral, and split shank designs add more detail across the finger. Make sure the setting covers both tips and holds the diamond firmly.

A raised marquise setting may leave enough space for a straight wedding band to sit flush. A low setting may fit better with a curved, contour, or chevron wedding band. Check the side view and contact points to prevent the two rings from rubbing together. Source: The Knot Wedding Band Guide.
